Whinney Bank - Par 3 - 225 yards

The Whiney Bank takes its name from the bank of trees behind the green- that area being known as Whiney Haugh. This hole measures some 225 yards with the tee situated beside the Professional Shop. It is a very demanding start to a round of golf, the burn crossing the fairway some 30 yards from the green, which is tightly bunkered. With a prevailing wind from the west and sheltered by the slopes, one doesn't appreciate the strength of the wind while standing on the tee. If the wind is from the east, very few shots actually reach the green. The Centenary Cairn is situated beside the 1st Tee.
